Bio:
Rasa Mateviciute is a talented Lithuanian visual artist, currently based in South London, Brockley.
Her journey into the art world began in Lithuania, where she studied Recreational Architecture at Klaipeda University, nurturing her passion for creativity from a young age.
Photography became a significant aspect of Rasa’s life starting in 2012, initially as a hobby. Over time, she realized its potential as a medium for expressing her thoughts and ideas, especially when combined with her interests in home decor and illustration prints. Rasa’s approach to photography involves meticulous attention to detail, focusing on elements such as colors, props, mood, storytelling, and underlying meanings.
Her artistic process typically commences with intuitive sketches, often inspired by natural forms, which serve as the foundation for her work. These hand-drawn images are then photographed and transformed into vector illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. Through this digital medium, Rasa refines her compositions, exploring shapes, figures, and color palettes to convey her artistic vision effectively. Additionally, she incorporates various materials and mediums into her creations, adding depth and texture to her final pieces.
Rasa’s illustration style is diverse, encompassing elements of pop art, figurative minimalism, and conceptual and abstract expressionism. Her artworks often feature women, sometimes depicted in abstract nude forms, alongside diverse individuals and anthropomorphized animals.
Apart from her artistic endeavors, Rasa is passionate about restoring old picture frames and repurposing intriguing objects sourced from antiques, charity shops, and markets. She breathes new life into these items, using them either for her artwork or as part of her home decor.
Lithuanian visual artist Rasa Mateviciute finds her inspiration mainly in South London, including areas like Deptford, Greenwich, and Blackheath. Her creative journey continues to evolve, fueled by her passion for art and dedication to exploring new mediums and techniques.
